Dev1ce leaves Astralis to Join NIP’s CS:GO roster

One of the best AWPers in the world who is also a 4-time Major winner has gone on to sign a 3-year contract with Ninjas in Pyjamas. The shocking announcement caught the CS:GO community by surprise, who despite being aware of the fact that Astralis was planning on undergoing changes never expected dev1ce to leave the roster.

He was one of the original members of the current Astralis roster, joining the team in January 2016. The 25-year-old Dane played a huge part in Astralis’ rise to dominate the competitive CS:GO circuit in early 2018, helping the organization win a total of 4 Counter-Strike Majors, which includes the 3 back-to-back Major victories.

The accomplished AWPer will be a huge boost to the Swedish dominated lineup, adding positively to the side and helping them reach new heights moving forward. Dev1ce currently holds the record of winning the most MVP medals in CS:GO, 18, which includes 2 MVP medals from CS:GO Majors.

Apart from this dev1ce is also a constant face to be seen on the HLTV Top 20 since 2014, achieving a slot in the top five rankings since the last 6 years. This is why he is considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of competitive Counter-Strike, especially renowned for his impeccable consistency.

“We just pulled off what is probably the biggest CS:GO transfer in recent memory. Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz — arguably the best and by far the most consistent player in the game — is joining the most legendary organization to grace the Counter-Strike scene. It’s a match made in heaven.”

Dev1ce will be seen playing with Ninjas in Pyjamas at the upcoming Flashpoint Season 3 which will be acting as the first European RMR tournament of 2021. NIP has managed to secure him just before the roster lock deadline, and it will be interesting to see how all this works out for them.

Commenting on his departure dev1ce said that, “Leaving Astralis is tough, to say the least. The boys will always be like family to me, but this covid era has left me thinking a lot; where do I see myself when it all goes back to normal? I’ve lived in Sweden for some time now, speaking the language and I’m really hyped about this young and exciting NIP project. To join one of the most successful organizations, where so many legends have played, inspires me. Just see what LeBron James achieved with the Lakers for instance, and with the Major in Stockholm coming up; to bring that home to Sweden is my number one goal.”
